Fort Matanzas National Monument preserves the fortified coquina watchtower, completed in 1742, which defended the southern approach to the Spanish military settlement of St. Augustine. It also protects approximately 300 acres of Florida coastal environment containing dunes, marsh, maritime forest, and associated flora and fauna, including threatened and endangered species.

Need to Know

Booking Windows

Primary Booking Window: Tickets for Fort Matanzas National Monument Torchlight Tours will become available 14 days in advance of the tour date at 10 a.m. ET.

Changes and Cancellations

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the tour time for refund. The $1 reservation fee is non-refundable. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the tour time will not be refunded. Cancellations must be completed through www.recreation.gov or by calling the reservation line at (877) 444-6777. Customers will receive full refunds in the event a tour must be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Refunds will not be made for no shows.
