Moab Day Use Sites

Moab Field Office (Blm)

The Moab Area BLM has several day use sites available for group gatherings and events. Currently the Colorado River Day Use Area is available for reservation. The eastern half of this site can be reserved for group gatherings up to 50 people. It offers a large shade structure, picnic tables, BBQ grill, vault toilet and spectacular views of the Colorado River and massive red rock canyon cliffs.

Accessibility Description (ABA/ADA)

The site has a large, paved parking area with about 24 paint-striped spaces, 2 of which are marked as accessible and located near the toilet and covered picnic area. Parts of the asphalt surface are buckling, and the lot has a slight (less than 5 percent) slope.

There are 2 unisex accessible vault toilets in a restroom facility. A cement ramp leads up to the restroom building from the parking lot. A steel railing has been installed along two edges of the ramp. There are no sinks in this facility and the site does not have potable water.

A 20’ x 20’ shade structure covers 3 picnic tables, 2 of which have extensions on one end to accommodate visitors in wheelchairs. The tables sit on hard-packed gravel. A cut-out from the curb provides wheelchair access.

Accessibility Description (ABA/ADA)

The site has ample parking, including a signed accessible parking spot with a concrete access aisle. The access aisle connects to a concrete walkway leading to the 10’ x 10’ shade shelter. A picnic table with an extension on one end to accommodate visitors in wheelchairs sits on a concrete pad under this shade structure. There is no grill near this shelter.

Visitors can access the unisex single vault toilet, which was designed to be accessible, using the site’s gravel surface. However, erosion has created a lip at the front edge of the toilet’s concrete pad that may pose challenges to people with mobility impairments. There is no running water at this site.

The 20’ x 20’ shade structure has 4 picnic tables, 2 of which are accessible, and an accessible grill.

There are 3 other picnic tables along the path leading from the information kiosk to the 10’ x 10’ shade shelter. They sit on the ground and may pose challenges to visitors with mobility impairments.

A paved pathway along the river links this site to Lion’s Park.
