National Forests in North Carolina
Famous for its spectacular natural gardens of Catawba rhododendrons, Roan Mountain shelters a rich diversity of life, from spruce-fir forests to vast grassy balds. Roan Mountain is actually not one mountain, but a high ridge about 5 miles long. It ranges from a height of 6,286 feet at Roan High Knob to a low of 5,500 feet at Carver's Gap.
$3 per vehicle. Larger vehicles and buses are $1 per person and must be paid on-site with cash using the fee tube.
Roan Mountain is open Memorial Day to September 30th
Passes are non-transferrable, non-refundable, not replaceable if lost or stolen, and not valid if altered or reproduced
This pass is valid only for entrance fees to Roan Mountain Recreation Area in the Pisgah National Forest
Visitors are required to bring either a hard-copy pass or a pass saved on their phone. Please be prepared to show your pass
Inclement weather such as thunderstorms or snowstorms may prompt a closure of the site at any time
