Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest
Located along the bank of the Oconee River, Oconee River Recreation Area offers camping, picnicking, hiking, boating, and fishing. Open year around, a boat ramp to the river and vault toilet are on site for day use. For camping services not included in the day use fee, see Oconee River Campground on Recreation.gov. Drinking water is not available at this time.
There is a day-use fee per vehicle of $3 per day or $25 for an annual pass. This pass is for day-use only amenities and does not include camping. On the Oconee National Forest, the annual pass covers the amenity fee associated with the recreation areas that are listed below:
The $3 day pass can be purchased on-site using a credit card through the Recreation.gov mobile app. Once on-site, follow the posted Scan & Pay instructions. You will need to download the free Recreation.gov mobile app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service. All visitors are required to display a printed copy of their Day Use pass, with QR code visible, on the dashboard of their vehicle for the duration of their stay.
If purchasing onsite, please have the Recreation.gov app downloaded prior to arrival. Once purchased please write down the confirmation number on provided envelope and display in the vehicle dashboard.
This pass does not guarantee parking availability. For your safety, please remember that parking outside of designated areas is discouraged and visitors who park illegally may be fined and towed. This pass is valid until 11:59 PM of the date listed on the pass and only for the date and vehicle specified for this pass.
Passes are non-transferrable between operators, non-refundable, not replaceable if lost or stolen, and are void if altered or reproduced.
Be aware of the possibility of flooding.
Cell phone connectivity on the forest may be limited, plan ahead.
