Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit
Inspiration Point overlook for Emerald Bay and Bayview Day Use area. Stop at Inspiration Point for incredible views of Emerald Bay from high above Lake Tahoe. You may also park directly across the street at Bayview Day Use area and enjoy a hike on the Cascade Falls Trail or venture further into the Desolation Wilderness via the Granite Lake Trail (Wilderness Trail Permit Required). If a hike wasn't what you had in mind, it's only a short walk to the overlook at Inspiration Point or find a picnic table and have lunch in this beautiful forest setting away from town. Elevation 7100 feet.
Activity Pass Purchasing Options:
Day Use passes are available on a first-come, first served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the Inspiration Point overlook to purchase a pass. Once on-site, follow the posted instructions and pay by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app.

Other than Wilderness Trail Permit holder, these facilities are day use only with no overnight parking.
No overnight parking in the Inspiration Point parking area. Bayview visitors may park overnight if backpacking into the Desolation Wilderness (permit required).
All visitors are required to pay a use fee.
