Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests
The FMS motorized trails have a wet weather closure policy in place and use a 'Call Before You Haul!' hotline. These trails may be closed on short notice to prevent resource damage from riding on wet trails. Please check the Call Before You Haul hotline at (803) 561-4025 for the most recent closures and openings. The date recorded in the hotline trail report reflects the date the trail was opened or closed. The message will remain the same until the open/closed status changes. Trail conditions change frequently.
The Francis Marion and Sumter National Forest offer a variety of motorized trails where visitors can enjoy a day of trail riding opportunities. Many of the trails have interconnecting loops, and riders have an opportunity to plan rides of varying lengths. The trails are managed for all-terrain vehicles (ATVs, UTV's) and dirt bikes. Jeeps, Hummers and other 4 x 4 vehicles are not allowed on trails. The maximum width these motorized trails will accommodate is 50 inches.
Passes are valid for Wambaw Cycle Trail on the Francis Marion; Enoree OHV Trail on the Enoree; and Parsons Mountain and Cedar Springs OHV Trails on the Long Cane.
A pass is required and is per OHV operator, and covers the use of the OHV on the trail. You must enter the names for each operator and a license plate for each tow vehicle that will be at the trailhead. Passes can be downloaded to each operator's phones, and/or printed ahead of time and carried with them. You can enter separate emails for each operator, or the purchaser can forward to an email or text the pass to each operator.
If you are purchasing a 1-Day Pass on-site, no printed copy of the pass will be available. Instead, your license plate number and pass stored on your device will be used to confirm compliance. Annual Passes must be purchased and printed in advance of your visit and displayed in your tow vehicle. If you no longer have the tow vehicle, you must contact Recreation.gov's Help Desk to request a modification to your pass. You will then be required to redownload and print your new updated Annual Pass.
This pass is valid until 11:59 PM of the date listed on the pass, and only for the date and vehicle specified for this pass
