Bluff Landing is located on an oxbow off of the main Verdigris River channel and provides excellent access to the backwaters for fishermen and kayaks. The campground is surrounded by mixed hardwood forest and the majority of the campsites are shaded. The sloping high banks of the oxbow offer great water views and access to tie boats at the water's edge. Due to the high banks, this campground is rarely affected by flooding.
Visitors can watch vessels lock through Newt Graham Lock 18. Access to Lock 18 is off Highway 412 at Inola, Oklahoma. Visitors are also a short drive to Broken Arrow and Tulsa and the many attractions both cities have to offer.
The Newt Graham Lock and Dam 18 project was primarily constructed for the improvement of the Arkansas River and its tributaries for commercial barge traffic, however, it also offers recreation and resource opportunities. Boaters can experience locking downstream or explore the 24.8 miles of navigable waters upstream from the lock to the Port of Catoosa.
