Facilities

The campground offers more than a hundred sites for tent and RV camping. A couple dozen sites provide full utility hookups for RVs and a dump station, with a $10 fee, is located within the campground.


Each site is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills. Firewood is available for purchase. Accessible flush toilets, showers and drinking water are provided. There is street parking available outside of the campground. 

Natural Features

The campground is located in the San Bernardino Mountains, within walking distance of the lake. Accessed by the Rim of the World Scenic Byway, the campground is situated in a mountainous, pine forest setting. Sagebrush grows alongside the paved roads.

Recreation

Visitors enjoy access to a number of hiking and mountain biking trails found within a short distance of the campground. The Alpine Pedal Path and the Cougar Crest Trail are nearby and provide access to the Pacific Crest Trail. The Big Bear Ranger Station is within a mile of the campground. Rangers can provide maps of the area and answer any questions about trails.

Fishing and boating at Big Bear Lake are popular activities. The campground does not provide direct access to the lake, but a boat ramp is available about a mile away. Anglers can look forward to a possible catch of trout, bass, catfish, carp, bluegill and crappie, among others.

Nearby Attractions

The Big Bear Discovery Center is located across the street from the entrance of the campground. A visitor center, interpretive trails and educational programs are available, as well as accessible flush restroom facilities.

From I-10 in Redlands, take Highway 330 to Highway 18 in Running Springs. Continue east on Highway 18 at Big Bear Lake Dam, but do not cross the dam. Turn left onto highway 38 Continue on Highway 38 to North Shore Lane. Campground is 1/2 mile on left side of road across from Meadows Edge Day Use.

Need to Know

  • Check-in 2:00 pm and/or after. Late arrivals must occupy their reserved site no later than 4:00pm the following day. Check out time is at 12 noon.

  • Maximum 8 people on a single site, at this time 16 max on a double site.

  • In accordance with standard industry practices, Mountain Top Recreation will be assessing a $8 additional vehicle fee per night on the second vehicle in each single family campsite, and on the third and fourth vehicles in any double family campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the first vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site. In the case of motorcycles, the first two are considered to be one vehicle and the third and fourth are also considered to be one vehicle. No additional vehicle fees are collected for bicycles. Fee is collected at the campground for extra vehicles.

  • Snowberry RV Loop is for RV camping. Electricity can be limited during high capacity usage.

  • No more than one rv per single campsite. Two vehicles maximum on a single site, four on a double site.

  • Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed

  • We do not have 50 amp electrical for electric cars. Do not book an RV electric for this usage.

  • Quiet time is from 10pm till 6 am. Industrial generators are not permitted at anytime.
