Facilities

All of the campsites have water and electric hookups, some have sewer hookups. Boat ramps, fishing piers and showers can be found throughout the campground. Also, six sites come with screened shelters to aid with windy weather.

Natural Features

The lake is nestled in the middle of Texas, surrounded by gently rolling hills dotted with Live oak trees.

Recreation

Bring your rod for fishing that includes largemouth bass, white crappie, channel and flathead catfish and sunfish. The record largemouth bass caught here is 11 pounds 4 ounces.

From Coleman, TX, take Hwy 153 west 7 miles to the main entrance to
Hords Creek Lake. Follow signs into the campground.

Need to Know

  • This park is located on Hords Creek Lake, Texas. Please ensure this is the correct 'Lakeside Campground' you wish to reserve.
  • Gatehouse is open: Sun-Thurs 9:00am to 8:00pm | Fri-Sat & Holidays 9:00am to 10:00pm

  • The park gate closes at night for security. Entrance into the park is not allowed between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Please plan accordingly
  • Due to low lake levels, unknown underwater hazards may exist; boat at your own risk
  • Please wear a life jacket for all lake activities
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
  • Sites 1-39, Screen Shelters A-F, and Group Shelters 1,3, and 5 will close seasonally 01 October through 28 February.
  • All vehicles must be operated in complaince with State laws; vehicles must have a current registration and inspection sticker. The operation of off-road vehicies (ATV's, UTV's, Mini bikes etc.) and golf carts is prohibited.

  • Hord's Creek Lake has an extra vehicle policy that states: A campsite is allowed 2 free vehicles and the 2 additional vehicles with a $5.00 a day extra vehicle fees for a total of 4 vehicles on a single occupancy site and 8 vehicles on a double occupancy site. Double occupancy sites can have 4 free vehicles and 4 additional vehicles with the $5.00 a day extra vehicle fee. All additional vehicles do not have to pay an entrance fee but are required to park at the office outside the park gates.

  • STOP THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES. Remove plants, seeds, animals, and mud from boots, gear, pets, and vehicles. Clean your gear before entering and leaving the recreation site. Stay on designated roads and trails, and follow local guidelines for firewood. CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY boats and any other recreational equipment that contacts water.   • Due to low lake levels there are No Designated Swim Beach Areas.
