Overview

Rocky Creek Park is on the east side of Benbrook Lake in north central Texas, accessible form Granbury Road or McPherson Road. Day Use picnicking, hiking & horseback trails, and fishing are available. Park is mostly pedestrian access only, but parking is available. Open 6AM to 9PM.

Facilities

First come, first serve picnic areas available, accessible by pedestrian access only. There are several miles of hiking & horseback trail accessible from Rocky Creek Park. NO CAMPING. There is a dirt parking lot before the entrance, next to the trailhead for horse trailers and other hikers. There is additional parking after the entrance before the gates that are closed to the main areas of the Day Use park. Park is open at 6AM and Closed at 9PM.

Natural Features

The park is on the east side of wooded Rocky Creek. The main picnic area lies on an open peninsula below wooded hillsides. The wooded park is up the creek.

Recreation

Picnicking, fishing, boating, hiking and birding are all available in the Rocky Creek Park for day use access ONLY. Trails are for hiking and equestrian use only, no bicycles or vehicles. NO Motor Vehicle Access to main areas of the park, pedestrian access only. Open 6AM to 9PM. NO CAMPING. No open boat ramps.

Nearby Attractions

Fort Worth's renowned Cultural & Museum District, Stockyards National Historic District, Botanical Gardens, Zoo, Bass Performance Hall, and downtown Sundance Square are all only as hort drive.

Important Notices

  • No hookups available. NO CAMPING ALLOWED. Pedestrian Access Day Use allowed 6AM to 9PM ONLY.

  • Park Main roads are closed by a gate, NO Motor Vehicle access allowed, pedestrian access ONLY. Park is not specifically designated as accessible; however, it is a generally open and level setting without significant grade changes or slopes

  • Park is located on a low-lying creek area and is impacted by water level. In drought, boating access to the main body of the lake may not be possible; during times of higher water levels, portions of this park will flood

  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.

Notifications and Alerts

  • The following boat ramps are CLOSED at Benbrook Lake due to low lake elevation: North Holiday Day Use, South Holiday Campground, Bear Creek Campground. Longhorn Day Use Park Boat Ramp is closed for maintenance until further notice. The only OPEN boat ramp is Mustang Day Use Park.

    The Swim Beaches at North Holiday and Mustang Parks are CLOSED due to lake elevation. If you have any further questions, please contact the Benbrook Lake Project Office at 817-292-2400.

Directions

From the intersection of Granbury Road / Summer Creek Drive and Sycamore School Road / Columbus Trail, go west and southwest 1.5 miles (2.6 km) to the intersection of Granbury Road, McPherson Road and St. Francis VIllage Road. Proceed on Rocky Creek Park Road 1 mile (1.6 km) to the park entrance. Or from the Chisholm Trail Parkway, exit for McPherson Road and go west to Rocky Creek Park Road.
