Natural Features
The John W. Flannagan Dam, completed in 1964, carves out a 1,145-acre lake with nearly 40 miles of beautiful shoreline in the lush Virginia mountains.

Flannagan's reputation as a fisherman's paradise is well-known. Visitors can enjoy secluded coves of deep, clean water that are well-stocked with bass, walleye and trout. Boating, canoeing, whitewater rafting and biking top the long list of activities available nearby.

Getting Here
From Clintwood Main Street, turn on to Brush Creek Rd., State Rte 631 2.2 miles. Turn right onto State Rte 754 for 1.1 miles. Turn right onto Pound River Campground Rd.
Need to Know
- No more than 2 vehicles per site. All other visitors must park in the overflow parking areas. This follows the Federal Regulation Title 36.
- All checks must be made to Recreation One Stop and or R1S
- No parking allowed in the grass
- No person(s) may camp at one or more campsites for than 14 days in a 30 day consecutive period at Pound River Campground. This includes the reservation holder (primary occupant) and all other overnight occupants.
- Any person utilizing a Federal Pass for a discount on camping fees must present the discount pass upon request, be registered on teh campstie, and occupt the site overnight for the entire duration of the reservation to receive the full discount.
- You may only be registered as the primary occupant at one campsite upon departure.
- All trash and debris must be completely removed from the campsite upon departure.
- All motorized recreational vehicles, including motorcycles, all-terrian vehicles (ATV), utility terrian vehicles (UTV), mopeds, scooters, golf carts, hoverboards, etc., that are not licensed for use on all roadways are prohibited in the campgrounds.

- The primary occupant is responsible for the adherence to the campging rules and regulations by all other occupants, guests, and visitors on the campsite.
