Gettysburg National Military Park
The historic Bushman House is an exceptional year-round place to stay and is located within the Gettysburg National Military Park, where it witnessed the Battle of Gettysburg. Beautifully restored and updated in 2017, the house is set back from the roadways and nestled within famous landmarks like Little Round Top and Devil's Den, and near the historic town of Gettysburg.
The Bushman House offers three bedrooms, including a first-floor bedroom. A total of 2 queen beds and 2 twin beds; 1.5 bathrooms; fully-equipped and updated kitchen with dishes, utensils, Keurig coffee maker, stove, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator; dining room; and sitting room. Central heating and air conditioning provide comfort year-round. Bed linens, sheets, pillows, and a limited supply of towels are available. Dish soap and dishwasher detergent are provided. Keyless access code provided prior to scheduled arrival.

By making this reservation, you agree to complete the reservation process, as outlined below:
Step 1: Please visit recreation.gov to review our properties and dates of availability.
Step 2: Once you have identified the property and dates you are interested in booking, you will be able to book your reservation!
Step 3: IMPORTANT: Once you have booked your reservation, we will email you the leasing template to complete, sign, and send back to us at the following email address: GETT_Housing_Rental@nps.gov
PLEASE NOTE: The leasing agreement must be completed in full and submitted to GETT_Housing_Rental@nps.gov. This action finalizes your booking! Please complete/return the leasing agreement within 24 - 48 hours within receiving.
The leasing agreement will be emailed to you for signing approximately three weeks before your check-in date.
If you do not submit the completed leasing agreement, your reservation will be released.
Reservations may be made up to 6 months in advance.
A minimum 2-night stay and a maximum 6-night stay.
The Lessee shall pay to the Lessor the nightly rent plus a $250.00 refundable security deposit. In the event of the failure of Lessee to keep and perform all of the terms, covenants, and conditions of this Lease, Lessor may apply or use any portion of the security deposit that is reasonably necessary to compensate Lessor for all loss or damage sustained or suffered by Lessor.
Payment in full required at time you book reservation.
A $10 cancellation or change fee applies if the reservation is changed or cancelled.
Customers who cancel within 14 days before the arrival date will also forfeit the first night's use fee.
Pass discounts are not available,
A Keyless Access code will be provided prior to scheduled arrival.
Check-in is 3:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM.
Check out procedures - Lessee shall broom sweep all floors; place all used towels, etc. in the provided hamper; leave all bed linens in place; empty all trash and recycling, and leave next to the door outside; place dirty dishes, etc. in the dishwasher and begin wash cycle; and remove any personal belongings by 11 AM on the termination date of the lease. Door must be locked upon leaving. Vehicles are to be removed from the premises after the termination of the lease, and access to the property is unauthorized after check-out without the express permission of the Leasing Manager or their designee. Violation of this policy can result in ineligibility for future rentals at Gettysburg National Military Park and ticketing and/or removal of vehicles from the premises.
The Person named on the reservation (Lessee) must be an occupant of the property during the entire term of the lease.
The maximum capacity for tenancy for the leased premises is 6.
Parking is limited to the designated area. Lessee must ensure that no vehicles are parked on the drives or outside of the designated area.
The park is closed from sunset to sunrise. Lessee and all occupants staying are prohibited from exploring areas outside the leased boundaries while the park is closed. During these hours Lessee shall not cause any unnecessarily loud, excessive, or unusual noise, where such noise is plainly audible.
This is a very old historic house; please be respectful and careful to help preserve its history.
The house is not wheelchair accessible.
Pets are not permitted at house. Service dogs are permitted.
No Smoking.
Digging on the premises is prohibited.
Open fires on the premises are prohibited.
Tents or any type of temporary structures on the premises are prohibited.
No toiletries are provided. Please be sure to bring your own.
There are no laundry facilities in the house.
Wi-Fi is available however, there are no televisions in the house.
Cell phone service is available but service may be weak at times. There is a phone in the house for emergency and local calls only.
White-tail deer are abundant in the area, so deer ticks carrying Lyme disease are also prevalent. Be sure to check for ticks and/or wear protective clothing with any outdoor activities.
Please be advised that there may be ongoing park operations near the Bushman House during your stay, potentially including permitted special events, interpretive activities, field mowing, use of prescribed fire, and deer management activities. None of these activities will occur within the perimeter of the Bushman house yard.
Driveway access will be maintained as open at all times. The driveway is an authorized trail for horses and pedestrians as well as providing access for maintenance purposes and should never be blocked.
Any maintenance issues should be reported immediately and repairs will be made as soon as possible.

Violations of any of these conditions will result in the immediate termination of this lease and forfeiture of all fees paid.
The 6,000 acre Gettysburg National Military Park comprises a mosaic of pastoral landscapes and forested knolls, with pockets of dispersed wetland and intermittent streams. The park includes woodlots and forested habitat with mature oak and hickory trees. Springtime brings a variety of wildflowers such as bluebells and violets that cover the landscape with color. From summer to fall, the field and forest floors will come to life with the many species of aster and goldenrod found in the park. Black-eyed susan is abundant throughout the park. Visitors can also see cardinal flowers, a favorite to hummingbirds and distinguishable by its bright scarlet flower. The park is also home to numerous birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
Within a short drive, visitors can explore the town of Gettysburg with even more historic sites, quaint shops, and restaurants to please every palate. Throughout Adams County, visitors will find wineries, cider makers, cultural and music festivals, covered bridges, antiques, crafts, and farmers' markets brimming with local apples and other fresh, local produce. About 45 minutes away is Hershey, Pennsylvania which is home to Chocolate World and Hershey Park. And, just 35 minutes from Hershey is Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Dutch country.
There are numerous ways to experience the battlefield. Visit the park's Things to Do page to learn about self-guided auto tours, licensed battlefield guided tours, easy paved walking trails as well as unpaved to explore and hike.
Trails are available in close proximity to the home.
At the park's visitor center, visitors can marvel at the Gettysburg cyclorama painting, original artifacts, or find their own civil war ancestors. A variety of ranger-led programs are offered throughout the day. Also, Eisenhower National Historic Site is just about five minutes away. It is the only home ever owned by the 34th president.

The Bushman House is located at 30 S Confederate Avenue approximately 3 miles south of Gettysburg. From the north or south, follow US 15 to the Steinwehr Ave exit head toward Gettysburg. From east or west, drive into Gettysburg on US Rt. 30, turn South on Baltimore Street (Rt. 97), and then turn south on Steinwehr Ave or Bus Rt 15 South. The nearest airport is Harrisburg International Airport at Middletown, Pennsylvania, approximately 35 miles north of Gettysburg. The second closest is Baltimore-Washington International near Baltimore, Maryland. Gettysburg has a small airfield on Route 30 west of Gettysburg that will accommodate private aircraft.
