Facilities

Huckleberry Campground has 33 RV camp sites. Sites 1-30 are single RV sites with a total maximum combination capacity of four registered vehicles/campers/OHVs/utilitiy trailers and 15 people per single site. Each single site has one paved parking spur, one potable water and electric hookup, and one picnic table and a camp fire ring. Sites 31-33 are group RV sites with three electric and water hookups with a maximum combination capacity of 12 registered vehicles/campers/OHVs/utility trailers and 25 people per group site. Each group site has gravel parking, three potable water and electric hookups, two picnic tables, and two fire rings. The campground supports on-site hosts, six concrete vault toilets restrooms, an undeveloped non-motorized boat ramp, a small day-use parking area next to the boat ramp, an RV dump station for Huckleberry overnight geusts only, two self-serve information and paystations, and two day-use horse shoe pits.

Nearby Attractions

The campground's location serves as a central hub for campers and recreationists recreating along the river between Calder and Avery Idaho. Multiple hunting, fishing, and ATV/UTV user groups travel to the campground and use it to access the nearby miles of US Forest Service and Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) roads. The campground also serves as a central location to stage for fishing and floating trips.

From St. Maries, ID go south on Highway 3 for a half mile then turn right (east) onto the St. Joe River Road. Once on the St. Joe River Road travel for approximately 29 miles.

Need to Know

  • The Coeur d’Alene Field Office is happy to announce Huckleberry reservations arrivals can now be secured between May 1 through Sept 2, 2025. Thank you for your patience while campground improvments continue occur during the 2025 season! The Coeur d'Alene Field Office has also updated Huckleberry's visitor occupancy and general campground rules. Updates are as follows:

    Huckleberry Rules

    • Camping allowed in designated sites only 

    • Quiet hours: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. 

    • Check in: 3 p.m. Check out: 11 a.m. 

    • Campers must occupy and pay for site within 30 minutes of arrival 

    • No site saving 

    • Site must be occupied first night and every 24 hours thereafter 

    • No cutting of live vegetation 

    • All pets must be leashed 

    • Maximum length of stay: 14 nights 

    • Citations may be issued for failure to pay fees 

    • Campers may not leave personal property unattended for more than 24 hours 

    • No shooting 

    • No fireworks 

    • Commercial uses require Special Recreation Permit 

    Campsite Capacity

    • Additional vehicles must park in designated day-use parking areas. 

    • Proof of purchase must be visible on vehicle/trailer. 

    • Dump station is for registered Huckleberry overnight camping guests only. 

      Single RV Sites 

    o Capacity: 15 people and 4 registered vehicles including utility/boat trailers, OHVs, campers and passenger vehicles. 

    o All vehicles must remain on pavement within site. 

    o Parking spur dimensions are 60’ x 14’. 

    o Max RV length: 40’.

    o Any additional vehicles over 4 must pay extra vehicles fee.

      Group RV Sites 

    o Capacity: 25 people and 12 registered vehicles including utility/boat trailers, OHVs, campers and passenger vehicles.

    o All vehicles must remain on gravel surface within site. 

    o Max RV length: 40’. 

    o Any additional vehicles over 12 total must pay extra vehicle fee. 

    Please note that the annual potable water system shutdown will begin sometime during the week of October 20th.
