Grass Shack Campsite #2 is located within Grass Shack Campground. This site has a bear box for food storage. Site #2 can accomodate up to 6 people and has a large, flat 20'x15' area for bigger groups to hang out. This is a great campground that offers shade from large Oaks and Junipers.
One of the larger creeks-Chimenea Creek runs through and by the campground, providing water most of the year. Fires are not allowed here being in a fragile riparian ecosystem surrounded by a thick grassland. Access is from Camino Loma Alta, and this ten mile hike climbs 2,200 feet to a campground often not affected by winter storms.
Views are exceptional to the south as you climb through and above the saguaros. This is the lower of the two campgrounds on the Arizona National Scenic Trail in Saguaro National Park.
You must camp in your assigned campsite.
