BACKPACKING CAMPSITE
The Boulder Meadows Campsites are located 1 1/2 mile (2.4 km) from the Basin Trailhead via the Pinnacles Trail. Campsites 1-4 are located along a spur trail which is 1/4 mile (400m) long.
The first 1/2 mile (.8 km) is fairly steep, after which the trail becomes moderately difficult. The Pinnacles trail is well maintained and easy to follow all year. The pinnacles trail is the steeper, yet shorter route to the High Chisos backcountry and the South Rim area.
Site is small, with very little shade. A nice spur trail leads to a nice place to sit and watch the sunset.
This is a hike-in site. Parking is available at the Chisos Basin trailhead or the Chisos Basin Amphitheater.
Maximum 4 people, 2 tents.
Hammocks are prohibited.
Bears and other animals are frequently seen in this area. Do not leave food, or other items unattended.
No wood or ground fires permitted.
There is NO water available in the Boulder Meadow area. The closest water is at the Basin Visitor Center spigot. Always carry adequate water for cooking, drinking, and washing (suggested 1 gallon (4 l)/person/24 hours).
Pets are not allowed on trails in Big Bend National Park.
