Need to Know
No cell phone service.
No potable water (bring a water filter).
No trash service. Practice Leave No Trace principles and carry out everything you carry in, including all trash and food.
Obtain firewood locally within 10 miles of your campsite.
Stair Falls campsite may be reached by a 2-mile hike from Haskell Gate or by paddling down the East Branch Penobscot River.
Pets must be on a leash of six feet or less at all times.
Campfire permits from the Maine Forest Service are required. Call 207-435-7963 prior to your trip to obtain a free permit.
An established portage trail goes through this campsite.
