This A frame cabin was once a Forest Service cabin that was converted to a Refuge Public Use cabin in the late 2000's. It is situated on the lake shore within the dense spruce forest. Summer use is great for individuals and families wanting to enjoy the tranquility of Afognak Island while hiking, fishing, swimming and exploring. Spring and fall are popular for hunting.

Beds: two double bed platforms. Mattresses not provided. The upstairs loft is spacious but does not have any bed platforms or mattresses.
Drinking Water: lake and streams on both sides of cabin
Heating: wood stove in cabin. Wood sheds often have drywood. Please help keep the woodsheds stocked with wood for the next users. Splitting maul and wedge should be on site.

Access by float plane only. Cabin is 40 air miles from City of Kodiak (approximately 25 minute flight).
Lake can often times be frozen from late October through May. Reservations during these times are strongly discouraged.
******THIS CABIN HAS A HISTORY OF BEARS DAMAGING THE MEAT SHED WHILE GAME MEAT IS STORED WITHIN. IT IS CRITICAL THAT GUESTS DO THEIR BEST JOB POSSIBLE TO KEEP THE ENTIRE CABIN CLEAN, BUT ESPECIALLY THE MEAT SHED. NO BLOOD OR ANIMAL PARTS ARE TO BE LEFT ON SITE. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOUR AIR TAXI SERVICE TRANSPORT GAME MEAT OFF SITE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
