This platform is located about 12 miles north of Kingfisher Landing along the Red Trail. The platform sits on the left edge of Maul Hammock Lake, so be sure to look behind you to find your overnight stop. The lake, and the other lakes along the trail, provide good fishing opportunities. This site is along on of the most remote wilderness paddle trails and is considered one of the most difficult paddles due to it's length, the fact that there is no place to stop along the way, and the entire trail is through open prairie. Enjoy beautiful night sky viewing from this location.
NO FIRES ALLOWED. Please refer to the refuge map for additional information and Know Before You Go tips. Keep trails and platforms free of litter; you must pack out ALL garbage generated from your trip.
Permit holders take full responsibility of knowing the distance between overnight stops.
