Need to Know
- Alaska cabin reservations can only be changed once. If you need to modify your reservation a second time,it must be cancelled and then re-booked by calling 1-877-444-6777.*Effective November 17, 2003 to assure fairness for everyone.*
Open fires in fire ring, collect dead/down wood only. Cabin is primitive,
no amenities except propane furnace and outhouse. Stream water must be
boiled or treated for drinking.
Propane for heater provided.
Directions to Cabin:
23 miles northwest of Juneau. Access by trail, 5 1/2 miles to cabin
from Mile Marker 28.4 Glacier Highway. Trailhead is on north end of Eagle
River Bridge, follows upstream on north side of Eagle River. Trail
continues another 2 miles from cabin to Eagle Glacier. - Restrictions: 2 day stay limit.
Activities: Hiking, skiing, berry picking.
Glacial valley, spruce-hemlock forest with dense alder and willow patches,
black and brown bear,
Trail follows path of retreating glacier, go back in time through plant
succession. Beautiful view of glacier, lake, and mountains. Access year
round, trail hard to follow in winter. Propane for heater provided.
