- This Group Campground, at 6500 feet in elevation, is nestled in the Granite Bowls and Conifer Forest on the north side of Loon Lake. The area is popular for fishing, hiking, 4 wheel drives, hunting, mountain biking, and motorcycles, etc. Desolation Wilderness is nearby, day use permits are available at the Loon Lake Trailhead in Loon Lake Campground. The facility is right next to the world famous Rubicon 4WD trail.
