This is a ski-in and ski-out facility. A 3-mile, 2500 vertical foot ski, hike or snowshoe is necessary. Flotation and/or traction if often necessary. The Guard Station has a wood-floored sleeping loft and sleeping pads to use with your sleeping bags. No tents are allowed. Propane is provided for the lights and stove. Tilly Jane Creek is 100 ft. away from the Guard Station. Treating all water is recommended. There is no electricity/water/sewer site hook-ups at this facility.
Check In Procedure:
1. Access the cabin via the 2nd story snow door on the left side of the cabin. DO NOT lock this door during your stay. Place the lock on one of the hooks INSIDE the cabin.
2. Open the front door and dutch doors from inside the cabin. Secure dutch doors when open to keep them from banging in the wind.
3. Remove some/all shutters as desired. Each shutter is numbered for and sized to fit their corresponding window. You may be required to dig out the windows from outside; this is best done before removing the shutters, to protect the glass. Snow shovel is located under the loft steps.
4. Turn on propane. The main valve is located in the wood room, inside the door to the right. Propane may take a while to flow in cold weather.
4. Turn on gas for the kitchen. Valve is located under the kitchen counter, to the right of the stove.
Light stove pilot lights:
- Lift front of stove top, light pilots between each burner pair, left and right
- Open broiler cover below oven and locate the oven pilot in the back
- The oven should now operate without matches or lighters
- Failure to light all pilots may result in a gas odor emitted from the stove
- Large single propane burner on counter has no pilot; light with a match
5. Propane lights: Each gas lamp is operated individually. Push the switch in and up to start gas flow and light with lighter or match. There may be a delay in gas flow during cold weather. Extra mantels located in storage cabinet.
1. See instructions located in the Guest Book and on the wood room door. Most importantly, turn off the propane!
