No train service in Winter; closest parking is at the Placer River boat launch, approximately 8 miles, as the crow flies, from the Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop train station. Cabin is another 2 miles straight line distance from this point, and up 1,800 feet. Snowmachines can be used only when area has received enough snow, verify its open by calling 907-783-3242. Boating up Placer River is difficult due to shallow water as well as tides. Helicopters can land near cabin; ski or float planes may be able to land on Lake, depending on icebergs.
