Need to Know
- All water sources within the wilderness must be treated before drinking.
- Wilderness camping must be done within designated areas. Beach camping and dispersed camping are not permitted on Cumberland Island.
- All food and trash must be hung out of reach of wildlife and packed out when departing the site.
- Deposit human waste in a 6 inch deep "cathole" at least 70 paces from the campsite and water sources. Pack out all trash.
- Fires are not permitted at wilderness sites. Portable camp stoves are permitted for cooking.
- No carts, bicycles, or wheeled vehicles of any kind are permitted in designated wilderness.
