Recreation at East Canyon Dam and reservoir, a feature of the Weber Basin Project, is managed by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation under agreement with the Bureau of Reclamation. The reservoir has a surface area of 680 acres and is situated in an open setting 12 miles south of Morgan. THe elevation is about 5,700 feet elevation. Managed recreation season all year with high use occurring in the summer. Winter use is maily ice fishing. Common fish species include rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout. Reservations accepted for some campsites. Fees charged. The East Canyon U.S. Geological Service map covers the area. Reservations can be made by calling 800-322-3770 toll free outside Salt Lake or 801-322-3770 from within Salt Lake City.
From Ogden, take I-84 east to exit 103, turn right to State Road 66, 12 miles south of Morgan. From Salt Lake City, take I-80 east to exit 134 (Highway 65) to reservoir. Highway 65 is closed in winter.
