Bureau of Reclamation, Utah.
Starvation Dam and reservoir, Central Utah Project, Bonneville Unit, on the Strawberry River is filled by surplus winter and spring flows from the Duchesne and Strawberry Rivers. Recreation management at Starvation Reservoir is performed by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation under agreement with the Bureau of Reclamation. The reservoir is situated northwest of Duchesne, Utah, at the 5,710-foot elevation and has a surface of about 3,300 acres when full. The managed season is year-round with high use on holidays and weekends. Fish species include walleye, smallmouth bass, and brown trout. Fees charged. Reservations accepted for some campsites. Duchesne and Rabbit Gulch U.S. Geological Service maps cover the area. Stream fishing on the Strawberry River is available below the dam.
Effective immediately, Reclamation will require all boats launching at Lake Berryessa to participate in a seal program to prevent the spread of invasive mussels. All vessels wishing to launch at Lake Berryessa will be inspected. A red quarantine seal will be applied for 30 days during, which the vessel will not be permitted to launch. Vessels that have finished the 30-day quarantine may return to the lake and have the seal removed by authorized staff and will be allowed to launch.
