Traveling through the Great Plains section of Montana, Big Sky Back Country Byway traverses the vast expanses of land and sky that has earned Montana its nickname. The byway covers varying landscapes from badlands and buttes to rolling prairie.
Getting to the Byway:
From the south, you can access the byway off Interstate 94. Take the Terry exit (#176) and look for the portal signs and the local kiosk at the service station on the west side of the road.
From the north, turn south on secondary Highway 13 just east of Wolf Point. Look for the portal sign and kiosk just before you cross the Missouri River.
A third kiosk is located at the county museum in Circle.
Navigating the Byway:
From the north, take Highway 13 south through Circle and Brockway. Continue south on State Route 253 to Terry, where the byway ends.
