San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park Tours
This graceful, full-rigged ship was nothing special when built. BALCLUTHA was a general cargo vessel, kin to today’s container ships. Then, as now, most of the goods we depend on daily come to us by sea. From those prosaic origins, BALCLUTHA did something remarkable. It survived. Out of hundreds of vessels plying the seas a century and more ago, there are very few of these “clydesiders” left. Along the way, BALCLUTHA became STAR OF ALASKA, and then PACIFIC QUEEN. Come hear the rich and unusual stories this vessel has to tell on this informative tour.
