Participants must be physically capable of walking 1 to 2 miles (1.5 to 3 km) on uneven surface with elevation gains.
Due to steep and rocky trails this activity is not wheelchair accessible. Participants must stay with the group for the duration of the program. Children must stay close to their parents.
Hiking boots or hiking shoes (lug soles) in good condition are required for your safety and the safety of park staff and other participants.
Be prepared for varying temperatures and weather conditions. You may need a hat, jacket, and gloves. The temperature drops quickly as the sun goes down.
Check in at the visitor center front desk anytime during normal operating hours the day of the hike to get information on what time and where to meet. Then, check in again at the designated meeting spot 10 minutes before the program starts. If you arrive after rangers have left the trailhead, you will not be able to join the hike.
While photography is allowed and encouraged, no tripods or flash photography will be allowed. To preserve everyone's night vision and program experience, flashlights or headlamps can be brought on the tour, but their use is not allowed without the permission of the park ranger
