Sagamore Hill was the family home of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, from 1885 until his death in 1919. During Roosevelt's time in office, Sagamore Hill was the focus of international attention. Visitors can tour the Roosevelt Home and explore the natural surroundings and historic grounds, and become inspired by the legacy of one of America's most popular presidents.

Need to Know
- Visiting Sagamore Hill:
The park grounds:
- FREE and open daily sunrise to sunset. The park is closed after sunset.
- Pet friendly. Owners are required to keep their pets on leash (no more than 6ft) and owners MUST pick up after their pet. Please help keep Sagamore Hill pet friendly. Learn more about BARK .
The Old Orchard Museum and Visitor Center:
- Open Thursdays 1pm - 4:30pm and Friday through Sunday 12pm - 4:30pm.
- Includes three rooms of exhibits on the life of Theodore Roosevelt.
- Information desk.
- Jr Ranger Program.
- Eastern National Bookstore.
- Restrooms and water.
The Nature Trail:
- Enjoy a 0.7 roundtrip path down 120 feet to a preserved historic Roosevelt family beach where you can look east across Cold Spring Harbor. The trail begins next to the Old Orchard Museum.
- The Nature Trail is an unpaved dirt path with steep inclines and some steps. The trail is not wheelchair accessible.
- High tides often flood the path to the beach. Please staff off the dunes at all times!
- The beach is not for recreation, swimming, picnicing, fishing, boat landing, etc. Dogs must remain leashed.
Tours of the Theodore Roosevelt Home:

- Accessibility:
- Getting to the Roosevelt Home. The Roosevelt Home is located approximately 300 walking steps up a slight paved incline from the parking lot. Look for accessibility path markers in order to take a more gradual path to the Roosevelt Home. This marked path leads to a ramp on the backside of the porch.
- Inside the Home. There is a ramp on the porch of the Roosevelt Home that allows wheelchair access to the first floor. Access to the second and third floor is by stairs only.
- Old Orchard Museum. The Old Orchard Museum is approximately 1/4 mile from the parking lot. Access via wheelchair is by the back entrance. Follow accessibility markers.
- The Nature Trail. The Nature Trail begins next to the Old Orchard Museum. It is an unpaved dirt path with steep inclines and cannot be accessed by wheelchair.

Booking Windows
Online Reservations Only. These tickets are not sold in person at Sagamore Hill. Tickets must be purchased on Recreation.gov. Tours are Friday - Sunday.
How to Purchase Tickets:
- Tickets are limited and in high demand.
- House tours are Friday - Sunday.
- 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm tours will open at 9:30 am on recreation.gov on the same day of the tour (if staffing allows).
- A 12pm tour will also open on Saturdays at 9:30am (if staffing allows).

Changes and Cancellations
- Refunds must be requested via recreation.gov before the tour begins. Tickets are non-transferrable. A $1 processing fee per ticket is non-refundable.
