Valles Caldera National Preserve Backcountry Vehicle Timed Entry
Provides access for one vehicle to backcountry route of Valles Caldera National Preserve. The average time spent along the drive is 3-1/2 hours. Plan to be back at the entrance gate before the park's closure time.
Please stop by the entrance station and present your backcountry vehicle pass to a ranger to receive your backcountry gate code.
Use of the pass to enter the backcountry is valid during a 6-hour window starting at the specified time.
You will need to enter the gate code into the keypad at the automated backcountry gate. If you need assistance, please stop by the Ranger Station near the backcountry gate and a park ranger will be happy to assist or call 505-670-1612.
All vehicles must exit the park prior to the closing of the main entrance gate.
No pets are allows in the backcountry, including inside vehicles.
Fishing within Valles Caldera National Preserve requires a New Mexico fishing license and HMAV Stamp.
No overnight camping allowed.
