Gateway National Recreation Area
Spanning 27,000 acres from Sandy Hook in New Jersey to Breezy Point in New York City, the park is both the gateway from the ocean into New York Harbor, and the gateway to the National Park Service for millions of visitors every year. Gateway offers green spaces and beaches alongside historic structures and cultural landscapes. Every day, Gateway is open for you to explore, envision, and enjoy! Jacob Riis Park was designed by New York City as a park in 1912. Its famous bathhouse was built in 1932. Jacob Riis Park became part of the National Park Service when Gateway was established in 1972. Lifeguards are on duty at this swimming beach daily begining the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day from 10 am to 6 pm.
Daily parking fees are in effect/required from 8:00 AM-6:00 PM daily the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, and are valid for single, private non-commercial vehicles. Anyone parking in the lot during those hours are required to pay the fee.
The Jacob Riis Park daily parking fee can be paid in advance online at Recreation,gov. A printed copy or digital version of the daily pass must be shown upon entering the parking lot and will be be scanned for validation. A printed copy is preferred so it can be placed on your dsshboard as proof of payment. Purchasing this pass does not provide special or faster entry into the park.
Beach Parking Season Pass Holders should NOT use this reservation system. This is for daily passes ONLY.
Rates are charged per vehicle – Daily 8:00 AM-6:00 PM
Private non-commercial vehicles 20 feet and less: $20/day
Oversized private non-commercial vehicles over 20 feet: $50/day, Oversized vehicles (over 20 feet in length) include vehicles with trailers and extended bike racks.
50% discounts are available to visitors who have an Interagency Senior or Access pass. The Senior/Access Interagency pass discount must be requested as a refund request through the customers Recreation.gov account. Please include your Senior or Access Pass number when submitting the refund request.

Display the printed copy of the reservation on the vehicle dashboard while parked in the parking lot.
Parking outside of designated areas is prohibited and visitors who park illegally may be fined and towed.
Swim only when lifeguards are present.
No pets are permitted on ocean beaches March 15 – Sept 15.
Alcohol is prohibited in the park, except by separate permit.
Speed limit in the parking lot is 10 mph.
Jacob Riis Beach Parking Season Pass Holders should NOT use this reservation system.
Customers may cancel their Jacob Riis Beach Parking Reservation up until 7:59 am Eastern Time (ET) the morning of their reservation. Reservations cancelled by 7:59 am ET will receive a full refund minus a $2 service fee. The $2 per reservation service fee is nonrefundable in all circumstances.
