Boulder Cave Day Use
Boulder Cave trail is a highly used trail leading to the cave. The trail is dirt and becomes rougher as you descend into the canyon at the cave entrance. From the parking area the trail leads uphill for approximately 3/4 of a mile. The hardest part of the hike is walking up the trail from the cave exit.Need to Know
- Access
Allows for one private vehicle or motorcycle at Boulder Cave Trail and day use picnic area.
- Timed Ticket
This area uses the timed ticket reservation system to protect it from excessive human impacts, help meet local health department requirements, and facilitate a positive recreation experience
- Advanced Reservations
Make sure to book your reservation in advanced as tickets are only sold online at Recreation.gov or via the mobile app. Tickets are NOT sold on-site.
- Reservation Holder
Ticket/Reservation-holder needs to be in the vehicle at time of reservation.
- Arrival Time
Please arrive between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm on the date of your timed ticket. Early arrival is not permitted. After arrival, visitors can stay the entire day. Visitors must leave by 4:30 p.m.
- Reservation Limit
Only one timed ticket is needed per vehicle. Visitors can purchase up to 1 timed ticket per day. Ticket holder must be in the vehicle at time of use.
- Ticket Validation Onsite
Please have a printed copy of your timed ticket or your confirmation email QR code on a cell phone device available to be scanned at the Welcome Station. All visitors should be prepared to show their photo ID and America the Beautiful pass card if used to obtain a pass discount.
- Vehicle Validation Onsite
Vehicles parked in day use parking lots must display a valid timed ticket in the vehicle windshield. Park only in designated parking spaces. Visitors must abide by all regulations .
- Pass Holders
America the Beautiful and Interagency pass holders are still required to purchase a timed ticket. See the full list of valid passes.
